Dillon has an interesting history beginning on January 26, 1883 when it was incorporated. It originally was the trading post and stage stop. Dillon moved three times. Its first move was to be closer to the railroad. The second move was to be situated in the middle of The Blue River, The Ten Mile River and the Snake River. In 1956, the Denver Water Board mandated the third move by telling the townspeople to sell their property and be out of town by 1961. Dillon has since been located at the shores of the new reservoir.
