In 1850, California became a state and Castro began leasing his land to Americans who built a general store, a wharf and a lumber mill. Today we know Aptos to be home to the "World's Shortest Parade." Aptos' parade route is only a quarter of a mile long. Most vacationers like to stay in Aptos for the pleasant climate, pristine coastline and variety of restaurants. While staying in a vacation rental you may jog to a cafe for your morning coffee, drive to a local massage therapist or just take in the warm California sun. Any vacation rental in Aptos will be a delight due to its proximity to the amazing Pacific Ocean.
