Location: Como Estate is located on 1.6 private river-front acres abutting the Bohemian Grove in Monte Rio, just a few minutes from downtown's movie theater, dining, and large public beach with boat rental and concession stand.

House: What a wonderful find: leave your cares behind and come to the historic "Camp Como," now the beautifully restored 1910 Victorian Como Estate (~2500sf). The spacious living room has two seating areas, one around a massive stone fireplace, and one around a Cable TV with DVD and VCR, opening to a large deck with river view. The eat-in kitchen has seating for eight, and also opens to the deck which features outdoor dining for six. This home sleeps 10 on two levels plus a cottage. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with king and queen beds, and two queen sleepers in the living room. Downstairs, there's one bedroom with a king bed, and one room with a queen bed (this room has no privacy from persons coming down the stairs or out of the bedroom across the stairway). A short distance from the main house is a charming rustic cottage, sleeping two, built into a massive redwood stump; this cottage has its own river-view deck, but no bathroom. The main house has two baths, one with shower, the other with tub/shower. If you want to stay connected, there is high-speed Internet access.

Grounds: Como Estate offers great privacy behind an electronic gate. The grounds are beautifully landscaped to provide areas from which to enjoy this truly spectacular natural setting amidst drifts of hydrangeas, redwood groves, willow trees, and rhododendrons. This property includes a full river view, an expansive lawn, loungers, and a private beach with kayaks. Off the main house, the large deck has a gas barbecue, dining set, and comfortable seating. Just outside the downstairs bedrooms, there's a hot tub on its own deck in the garden and a cabana (unheated) with plumbed toilet and shower with hot water. There's a very easy, short path to the beach.

Note: This home can sleep 11 - 14 for an additional $100/night.

Payment Policies

PAYMENTS BY CHECK:
If you are paying by check, we allow you five days to return the signed contract with your payment. If there is sufficient time, you pay 60% of the rent now and the remaining 40% plus tax, cleaning and damage waiver 30 days before your arrival date.

PAYMENTS BY CREDIT CARD:
We accept Master Card and Visa. If you are paying by credit card, you must fax back your signed credit card authorization and the pages of the contract requiring a signature as soon as you've had a chance to review the contract. Generally we expect it the same day. We will charge the entire balance at once. If the booking is to occur within ten days we will require credit card authorization by telephone and the charge will be run that same day.

Once you book a house, that house is off the market to anyone else. Therefore, all payments for bookings are non-refundable unless we re-book the house, in which case there is a $50 cancellation fee. Although we generally do re-book given a reasonable amount of time, there is no guarantee that we will. Full refunds are available if flood warnings affecting your rental are posted within 3 days of arrival date. If prior to or upon your arrival, your house is not available due to any condition or problem beyond our control, we will move you to a reasonably comparable house, providing one is available.
